Dhaulagiri
is the seventh highest mountain in the
world. It is an enormous Himalayan massif,
located in mid central Nepal. Dhaulagiri
means the white mountain in the local
Magar and Nepali language. It is the
highest mountain located entirely within
Nepal and separated to Annapurna 8091m
by the Kaligandaki Valley - known to
be the deepest gorge of the world. Dhaulagiri
was first attempted by the French Expedition
Team led by Maurice Herzog in 1950.
In 1960, the Swiss/Austrian expedition
who first reached the summit did so
despite their airplane having crashed
during the approach. This was the first
Himalayan climb supported by an airplane,
although the plane was subsequently
abandoned on the mount.Our climbing
route on this mountain is by the NE
ridge. In order achieve our goal we
enter into the base camp of Dhaulagiri
from south following the Myagdi Khola
from Beni.
We drive by bus to Beni and then
take about a little over a week to
trek to the Dhaulagiri base camp.
During our trek to the base camp,
we are well acclimatized to begin
our climb above the base camp.
We place our base camp at an altitude
of 4,600m /15088ft. and then place
an Advance Base Camp (ABC) at 5,150m/16,892ft
at the foot of the North East ridge.
Above the ABC, we place Camp 1 at
5,700m/18,696ft; Camp II at 6,630m/21,746ft;
Camp III at 7,180m/23,550ft and the
final camp at 7,600m/24,928ft.
Throughout the climb, our Sherpa
team will help to prepare the route
and help carry food and equipment.
Although, all climbers are encouraged
to climb without using the supplementary
oxygen, we supply two 3 liter super
light Poisk climbing oxygen to assist
your climb ( if there be a dire need.).
On our return from the mountain,
we cross the French pass and trek
through the Hidden Valley and then
over the Dhampus Pass to arrive at
Marpha where we join the popular Annapurna
Circuit trail coming from Jomsom to
finish our trek at Birethanti. From
Birethanti we bus to Kathmandu.
